July’s volume performance breaks records
on the Wholesale Ethernet product.
New orders won and placed on our
systems smashed through the thousand
mark at 1123. This is our highest monthly
volume on record.
July
•
820 Ethernet circuits are delivered and
handed over to our customers in July: a 20%
increase in orders completed, compared to
the monthly average in Q1.
•
We launch our first Ethernet switch in a
Telehouse/Data centre (Telehouse North),
reducing the cost barriers for entry for
customers and our own costs too.
•
A new knowledge-based diagnostics tool for
broadband goes into trial, before formally
going live in November. It offers greater
accuracy and reduces the amount of time
it takes our customers to diagnose a fault
from an average of 6 to 3 mins. Customers
are chuffed at the early benefits of reduced
handling and wait times.
•
BT welcomes Ofcom’s intention to consult
industry on lifting regulation in the wholesale
broadband market from more parts of the
UK, meaning that regulation will apply to just
over ten per cent of the country, as opposed
to the 22 per cent currently. Final statements
are due out in 2014.
We win a
multi-million IPX
deal with Vodafone.

On 25 July we share our Q1 results: Underlying
revenue excluding transit was flat, or up 2%
excluding revenue from ladder pricing which we
stopped recognising in the second quarter of
the prior year. The increase was primarily due to
23% growth in managed solutions revenue and
12% growth in IP services.
